In 2013, the Vancouver Armenian community recognized the need and growing urgency to help Syrian-Armenians escaping the war and devastation unfolding in their towns and cities. Over the past two years, we have worked closely with the Government of Canada to secure our application as a Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH). Under the Citizenship & Immigration Canada rules, this agreement allows us to sponsor Syrian families caught in a war torn area.

What started out as an idea, a dream, a hope and a small endeavour amongst a passionate and determined
group of people has turned into one of the largest private sponsoring groups in British Columbia.

As of December 15 we had sponsored 30 young families.
3 of them had already arrived,
and the other 27 were at different stages of the screening process.

Due to the expedition of the program by the Canadian Government,
we are expecting to receive all our families by February 2016.

Due to this unprecedented influx, we are calling out to all our friends and all Canadians to support our efforts.

On December 22, the first families since the expedition arrived and were greeted at the YVR.
